It is officially summer! And we are sharing with you the best events in the Virginia Beach Oceanfront from now until Labor Day weekend.
Even though we consider the beach-season to start in May, when the warm weather becomes consistent and events, festivals, and crowds show up on the beach, technically summer doesn’t start until mid-June. But don’t worry, the events, festivals and beach-related fun are still going strong while the weather is great! And the best part is that you can find so many great things in the Oceanfront area and a lot of them are free to attend!
Latin Fest – June 22-23
On the beach at 24th Street – a free festival that showcases amazing Latin Music from Salsa to Jazz, dancing, Zumba, cultural food, and vendors all weekend long!
SandStock – June 29-July 1
On the beach at 24th Street – A tribute to Rock and Roll, it’s Virginia Beach’s version of WoodStock! Enjoy live music on multiple stages all weekend!
Stars and Stripes Explosion – July 4
Along the Boardwalk from 17th Street to 31st street – it’s a patriotic salute to celebrate this wonderful country along with thousands of your closest, newly-introduced friends! Live music, vendors, and fun will take place all day with fireworks display in the evening at 9:30 PM near 31st Street.
Chalk the Walk – July 7
Grab your chalk and head to the Boardwalk! Professional and amature artists will create designs around this year’s theme, “Harry Potter” and other Magical things from 10:00AM – 5:00PM. Watch the art as it progresses all day between 15th and 17th Street.
Funk Fest – August 24-25
On the beach at 24th Street – This is the ultimate beach party! “Funky” music played by bands in the evening, but vendors, food and merchandise will turn this part of the beach front into a festival!
East Coast Surfing Completion – August 19-September 2
Love beach sports? This is your weekend! Watch events from beach volleyball, to stand-up paddle boarding, a 5k Beach run, and, of course, surfing. There will be live music and vendors all day promoting (our favorite) beach lifestyle. Surfing events will take place at the 1st Street Jetty.
American Music Festival – August 31-September 2
This is one of our favorite events as it wraps up summer taking place over Labor Day weekend. Multiple stages from 5th Street to 31st Street, it’s a complete beach takeover with music including country, jazz, Rock n Roll and R&B–there’s something for everyone. It’s the biggest music festival on the Atlantic Coast!
Commonwealth ViBez – a Free concert series taking place in the 18th Street park, featuring live music, food and beer from Commonwealth Brewery. Bring a chair, or sit in the grass while drinking beer and eating from the featured food vendor. Series will be every other Saturday starting June 23th until August 23rd.
Family Great Adventure Series – An interactive adventure themed around that night’s movie. Every Thursday, starting at 6:00PM for the adventure and 8:30PM for the movie, on the beach at 26th Street.
