Our Favorite Restaurants in Virginia Beach!
One of the best things about going on vacation is experiencing something unique to the area you’re visiting. Going out to eat is a great way to experience the local fare and learn a little bit more about the area’s culture. We also take a lot of pride in our restaurants. (They are such good options!) While there are so many great places and truly something for everyone, here are a few of our recommendations in the Oceanfront area of Virginia Beach.
Big Sam’s Inlet Bar and Café – You can get just about anything at Big Sam’s. We love it because of the variety and always great quality. They are open for 3 meals a day offering award winning pancakes for breakfast and a large variety of local seafood, including Chesapeake Oysters. Everyone’s having such a good time here, you won’t know who’s on vacation and who’s local! Open daily 7am-2am. 300 Winston Salem Ave.
Waterman’s – This is one of our favorite stops, located across the street from the Ocean Key Resort on the boardwalk, it’s great for the whole family. They’ve got almost everything including a famous Orange Crush and delicious crab cakes. A great stop off the boardwalk to watch all of the beach-goers. Open Monday-Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday opens early for brunch, 9am-11pm. 415 Atlantic Ave.
Tautog’s – Located near the boardwalk, this is a popular place for tourists and locals alike. It’s housed in a Victorian-era beach cottage, and serves delicious local seafood. A great spot for the family, the food will not disappoint, and the staff will keep you entertained! Check out live music on Thursday evenings. Open Sunday-Thursday, 5pm-11pm; Friday-Saturday, 5pm-12pm. 205 23rd Street.
Esoteric – A farm-to-table restaurant located in the ViBe District of Virginia Beach. It’s a hip and delicious stop to taste very local food and craft beer, created by a husband-wife team. The building is as beautiful as the food, and there’s a garden out back that supplies herbs for some of the dishes. Open Monday-Thursday, 4PM-10PM; Friday-Saturday, 4PM-12AM. 501 Virginia Beach Blvd.
Icehouse Restaurant – 604 Norfolk Ave; Open 11:30AM – 12:00AM(Midnight)
“The employees and the Owners here are up-close and personal with their customers. They get to know you while serving you with the warmest smile. There are TV’s placed throughout the Restaurant and bar… during the season, each TV is set on a different football game so everyone can keep up with their favorite team. We started coming here for their Monday Night Burger Specials only $5.99.
I have not had anything I was disappointed in. Each night of the week features a special dish from burgers, to Meatloaf, to Ribs. I am a big fan of The Preacher: A large Deep Fried Chicken Breast sandwich that blends spices to make it a mouthwatering delight. Two nights a week they also provide local live music. We have come to enjoy this place so much that even my 3-year old God-niece calls it her favorite. You cannot even spell it around her without her knowing that is where you want to go. I recommend this Restaurant to anyone local or visiting in Virginia Beach who wants a relaxing and inviting place to dine or just socialize. Great for single, two people, or small groups. They also take reservations at nights to avoid waiting to be seated.”
