Last Monday, we held an event to celebrate National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day and the event was a huge success!
A little bit about VSA Resorts and Peanut Butter/Jelly Sandwiches:
We have been doing a peanut butter and jelly making day, monthly for the past 6 months. It was a team-building idea from our Director of Operations, Keith Scott, who organized similar events at places he worked in the past. Every month, we invite workers from all of our locations, (the three resorts and our corporate office) to work as teams to make several hundred sandwiches that we then donate to various charities around the Hampton Roads area benefiting the homeless. Some of those charities include: Judeo Christian Outreach, PIN Ministries, Union Mission, Stand UP for Kids, and more.
National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day
This month, we decided to make our charity monthly event the biggest it’s ever been. We teamed up with EWR Management Group who helped organize and plan most of the event. That day we made over 600 sandwiches with the help of several people and organizations. Coastal Virginia Magazine stopped by to drop off bread, peanut butter, and jelly. Mayor of Virginia Beach, Will Sessoms, also helped out, jumping in with our VSA team to make sandwiches. Linda Jones, from the Union Mission also came by to cheer on team members and did a radio interview on WWIP 89.1FM the Word in Praise, with our Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Nadine Paniccia. It was a such a great day. Not only did we have a lot of fun, but we were able to make more sandwiches than ever before!
We’d like to send a big THANK YOU to everyone involved from our team members, to all of the people who took time out of their schedules to help us give back to the community.
