It might seem pretty obvious that we here in Virginia Beach love the beach! We boast over 3 miles of beautiful sandy beaches and that’s not counting all of the other beach areas nearby. If you are feeling overwhelmed by all of the possibilities for your beach time, or if you want to plan to visit them all, we can help you!
Virginia Beach Oceanfront
Our favorite is the main beach or as we call it, the oceanfront, also known as Resort Beach, and the namesake for our beautiful city. A 3+ mile stretch of beach with rolling waves and an inviting boardwalk; this is the beach you’ll be looking at if you stay at any of our resorts, all three are footsteps from this beach. You can easily rent bikes and explore all of the shops and restaurants along the boardwalk. Many festivals and events take place on or just off this beach. Everything you could possibly need is here.
If you are looking to get away from all the bustle and activity that is Virginia Beach, try Sandbridge beach located a short drive south of Virginia Beach. It’s a quieter, family oriented beach with large vacation homes overlooking the water.
Quiet and close to all the activity, Croatian beach is much smaller than both of the beaches listed above. Located just south of the end of the boardwalk, Croatian beach boasts less tourists. But beware, the parking lots can fill up quick on the weekends and there is generally a small fee to park there. If you do plan to go, pack a lunch because once you’re there, you won’t want to leave!
Popular among locals, Chix Beach is quiet with gentle waves. It’s a great place to come with kids who like to play in the water, but aren’t as fond of the rolling waves that are common at our other beaches. It’s a great place for Stand up Paddle Boarding. It looks out to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and is an excellent spot to view the sunset in Virginia Beach.
